Mother Goose announces Bord Gais theatre show as part of 2023 tour

January 3, 2023

As part of their UK and Ireland tour, the critically acclaimed production of MOTHER GOOSE, starring Ian McKellen and John Bishop, will also stop in Dublin for a performance in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in march between the 22nd and 26th.

Mother Goose also features Anna-Jane Casey as Cilla The Goose, Oscar Conlon-Morrey as Jack, Simbi Akande as Jill, Sharon Ballard as the Good Fairy Encanta, and Karen Mavundukure as the Evil Fairy Malignia in addition to McKellen as Mother Goose and Bishop as Vic Goose. Mairi Barclay, Adam Brown, Gabriel Fleary, Becca Francis, Shailan Gohil, Richard Leeming, Genevieve Nicole, and Laura Tyrer round out the ensemble cast.

Jonathan Harvey (Coronation Street, Gimme Gimme Gimme) wrote the script, and award-winning director Cal McCrystal is in charge of the production. Liz Ascroft is responsible for the set and costume designs, Lizzi Gee for the choreography, Prema Mehta for the lighting, Ben Harrison for the sound, and Chris Barlow for the puppet design and creation. Ben Arkell is the production manager, and Anne Vosser handles casting.

In an abandoned Debenhams, Mother Goose (McKellen) and her husband Vic (Bishop) maintain an animal sanctuary for stray and abandoned animals. But will fame and money overcome them when a goose (Casey) flies in? Will this significantly ruffle Ma’s feathers? Will Pa yell, “Get stuffed!” at everyone? Is their good life about to become a crow? Prepare yourself for fairies with strong vocals, puppets who can tap dance, and expertly planned mayhem that will make the whole family quack. The ultimate theatrical feast packed of fun, farce, and more than a few shocks that will make you honk out loud is this hilarious family-friendly mother of all pantos.
