Royal Canal: Cycleway Upgrade Works from North Strand Road to Phibsborough

Users of the Royal Canal in Dublin should be aware that cycleway upgrading work has just started on the section of the canal between Lock 1 at the North Strand Road and Lock 5 at Phibsborough.

The cross-border organization for Ireland’s inland waterways states that in order to facilitate these operations, the area’s canal towpaths will need to be closed during the next months over the spring and summer, with appropriate detour signage put up.

Although there may be some restrictions, navigation of this area will still be allowed while these repairs are being made. It also states that any changes to the scheduled passage will be communicated at the time of contact.
