Successful Festival Season at the Docklands!
June 6, 2014
May was the Month of the Festivals in the Docklands this summer with two fantastic festivals open to members of the public!
The Docklands Summer Festival, organised by the Docklands Business Forum and sponsored by Waterways Ireland, hosted the World Wakeboarding Championships, bringing in top athletes from all around the world. These talented competitors put on some fantastic displays for all to enjoy! Visitors could try their hand at kayaking or the Gibson Hotel Charity Duck Race! Even An Taoiseach joined in on the fun, making a spectacular effort at the Golf Island Water Challenge!
This year’s Movie in the Docks was family favourite ‘Finding Nemo’, drawing in the crowds for a family fun event.
The June Bank Holiday weekend featured the Dublin Port Riverfest. The Docklands were invaded by Pirates and Georgian dancers, putting on some fantastic displays for visitors to the festivals. Those in attendance witnessed dance displays and sword fighting as they made their way amongst the food stalls, face painters and carousels! Tours of the Jeanie Johnston ran throughout the day and guests were delighted to get a look inside the magnificent ship!
Two wonderful weekends for the Docklands. We are already looking forward to next year!
