Old B+L Line Office on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay to be redeveloped

October 26, 2017

Dating back over 100 years to 1909 is an old head office of the British and Irish Steam Packet company which became known as the ‘B&I Line’. At Sir John Rogerson’s Quay is where the former B&I steam-packet office, a listed 3 storey building, is currently being redeveloped.

Developer Marlet is working at the 1.7 acre site of the vacated building where demolition and site clearance has begun. The redevelopment of the B&I old head office is a reminder of the once flourishing shipping trade in this part of the city before the decline in the 1990’s.

This site represents the last available in the southside of the Docklands special development zone (SDZ) where Marlet plans to construct apartments and offices with an estimated cost of €100 million.
