Paving the Road to Galway…

July 1, 2014

The latest section of the proposed coast to coast route has opened in Castleknock. The Dublin to Galway road was opened by Mr. Leo Varadkar, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport. The Ashtown to Castleknock stretch forms 2.5km of the Greenway. The plan is for the trail to run from the Docklands to the Atlantic Coast in Galway.

When completed, the Greenway will be a fabulous local amenity for residents and visitors to the Docklands with hopes to attract tourists to the area for cycling, walking and running. The preferred route runs through Shannonbridge, Loughrea, Craughwell, Clarinbridge and Oranmore to the Galway coast. A 40km stretch between Mullingar and Athlone hopes to be completed next year.

We will be monitoring this progress very closely and are looking forward to its completion.
