Dragon Boat Racing is believed to be the second largest sport in the world and is rapidly gaining in popularity. The event is being hosted by the Irish Dragon Boat Association (IDBA) and the Plurabelle Paddlers, a group set up by women diagnosed with breast cancer. These remarkable ladies have set up the event to raise awareness of the illness and to keep themselves fighting fit.

There is something for everyone with courses running over both 200metres and 400metres. Categories include Under 18’s and International participants. Teams have already registered from the UK and Germany with the hopes of facing competitors from Dubai and Trinidad and Tobego.

It promises to be a fantastic event, suitable for those of all ages with varying fitness levels. A great team-building exercise, it is increasingly popular amongst corporate sectors.

Each team will be supplied with an experienced helms person for their race to accompany the 16-20 participants on board, along with a drummer. Entry fees per team for the two-day event cost €425 (adults) or €225 (under 18s). Registration for the two day event is now open and will be done on a first come, first served basis. Click here to access the registration form.

We are very much looking forward to the event, see you all down there!
