Property developer Johnny Ronan submits plans to build seven-storey complex in north Docklands

Property developer Johnny Ronan is seeking permission to build a seven-storey complex at Spencer Place near the Docklands. Last month, the Spencer Place Development Company lodged plans to Dublin City Council to build 325 apartments and an aparthotel at the development.

The Sunday Times has reported that the development – which already has permission for 165 apartments – will consist of two blocks of up to 7 storeys, containing a mix of one-and two-bedroom apartments. There are also proposals to build new streets and pedestrian walkways through the site, while all apartments would have balconies or terraces.

If the plan goes ahead, it would be one of the biggest single-apartment developments in the city centre, and as it exists in a strategic development zone, a decision may be fast-tracked.

Ronan acquired the site for a reported €43m in 2016.
