Artists urged to bring more colour to the streets of Dublin
April 18, 2024
Artists are being asked to bring “less grey” and “more play” to Dublin’s streets by turning 104 traffic control boxes into works of art as part of the Dublin Canvas initiative.
The spring callout was launched this week across three of the four local authorities, with grants offered to the selected artists.
Dublin Canvas said the project is intended to bring flashes of colour and creativity to everyday objects and will utilise previously unused public space, transforming it into canvases to “brighten up” each area.
Artists bringing their own materials will be paid €300, while those without materials will receive €250 and will be provided with a portable pack containing the necessary tools and paints.
