Dream plan for Docklands

An ambitious plan is being proposed for the Docklands area. The new plan would bridge the social divide and is being presented as a template for a renewed economic regeneration. There is a number of local stakeholders who are involved in the proposal, including, sports and recreational groups, schools and representatives of the unemployed.

The new plan has some big ideas, it proposes a building being converted into a multi-purpose space for the community, which could be used as an education and training space and the refurbishment of St Laurence O’Toole’s Junior Boys’ School & Girls’ School, amongst other things. The idea behind the proposal is to pull together the initiatives that are already planned and or underway in a cost effective way, while embracing the rich history of the area and strong sense of community.
