Irish Port Safety Week – Dublin Port Teams With City’s Fire Brigade for Rescue Exercise

As part of Irish Port Safety Week, Dublin Fire Brigade units from Phibsborough and Tara Street teamed up with Dublin Port Company in a safety exercise yesterday (Tuesday 2 November).

Together they pooled efforts in the simulated recovery of an injured crew member on board one of Dublin Port’s tugs, the Shackleton.

Dublin Fire Brigade were on scene with two fire appliances and an ambulance. One of the trucks had an inbuilt crane that can be used for the hoisting of casualties from the water and hard-to-reach areas.

From the success of the exercise, Dublin Port Company says it has been agreed to conduct further exercises in the future to strengthen all the teams in emergency preparedness.
