Plans for almost 400 social and affordable homes along Grand Canal in Dublin

Almost 400 new social and affordable housing units are to be delivered in Dublin as part of a new development put forward by the Land Development Agency (LDA) and Dublin City Council (DCC).

The proposed Bluebell Waterways development will be located along the Grand Canal in Dublin 12, at the former filter bed complex beside the fifth lock.

The plans include 389 units, which will be a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, around 35 per cent of which will be allocated as social housing, while the remainder will be cost rental units.

The 2.8-hectare site is owned by the council, and will also provide community facilities, open spaces and a creche.
