Stolen Medal for Bravery Retrieved back to Family

Cyril Deans from Drimnagh has finally retrieved his late father’s stolen medal for bravery after years of searching. William Deans had received the medal in 1948 after saving the lives of three American sailors who were in danger of the fumes that were surrounding the lower decks of their ship that was docked at Sir Rogerson’s Quay. Having been awarded the bronze medal for gallantry by the Department of Justice, it became a very important moment in the hero’s life, as well as his family’s. Read here how, after the medal was stolen, it was retrieved by his son after 58 years apart from the family.
