Dublin weather: Snow and sleet to hit as temperatures plummet below freezing

The milder spell is set to end with snow and sleet set to hit tonight as temperatures plunge below freezing.

Dubliners are waking up to a cold morning with frost and icy stretches and Met Eireann say we can expect much the same in the coming days. The latest forecast for Dublin says Wednesday will remain cold with highs of 4 to 5C although there will be hazy sunshine for much of the day.

However, frost and ice will set in this evening under those clear skies. Wintery outbreaks of rain will develop later which will turn to sleet and snow in places, particularly on higher ground as temperatures will drop to between -1 and 2C.
